Pumpkin Cream Cheese Dip with Cinnamon Sugar Dippers

So many of us get bombarded with pumpkin recipes this time of year.  They are all over Pinterest, the blogosphere and Facebook.  I've restrained myself and have only shared one pumpkin recipe (thus far) this fall on the blog - my Pumpkin Bread Pudding with Apple Cider Butter Sauce.  But, I have been dying to share my recipe for this pumpkin dip with you.

In my household, we prefer serving this dip with what we call Cinnamon Sugar Dippers.  These little cinnamon and sugar tortilla wedges are divine all on their own, but they are out of this world when plunged into this creamy, perfectly-spiced pumpkin dip!

My friends at Kroger graciously sent me a bunch of Kroger Greek products to try recently.  I was invited to develop some recipes using their products.  I was able to incorporate two of their Kroger Greek products into this recipe - their cream cheese and plain yogurt.  The results were great ... both products worked perfectly in this fall-inspired dip.  They added the perfect amount of tanginess and creaminess to the dip.  And, I love that the products contain lots of protein.  The cream cheese is, also, lower in fat than traditional cream cheese.  (But, I promise that you'll never notice the difference!)

NOTE: This recipe can easily be made with traditional plain yogurt and cream cheese, if desired.

This dip is full of the fall flavors that we all love and crave this time of year.  It's super simple ... and is perfect for parties and gatherings because it can be made in advance.

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Dip with Cinnamon Dippers

PUMPKIN DIP RECIPE -

Ingredients:

6 ounces cream cheese, softened
6 ounces (1 small container) plain nonfat yogurt
3/4 cup canned pumpkin puree
1 cup confectioner's sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Pinch of salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch freshly-grated nutmeg
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

Items for dipping - sliced apples, graham crackers, ginger snaps, vanilla wafers and/or cinnamon sugar dippers (recipe below)

Directions:

Beat cream cheese in a mixing bowl with a hand mixer until fluffy and smooth.  Add in the yogurt and canned pumpkin.  Mix until incorporated and smooth.  Blend in the confectioner's sugar, salt, vanilla and spices until well-incorporated.  (Adjust cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice or nutmeg to suit your preference.)

Store in refrigerator until time of service.

Sprinkle a little cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice on top of dip just prior to serving.

Serve with desired dipping items.

CINNAMON SUGAR DIPPERS RECIPE -

Ingredients:

2 large soft flour tortillas
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter, melted

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Using a pizza cutter, cut each tortilla into 10 - 12 wedges.  Spread the wedges out in an even layer onto a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper or foil.

Combine the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.

Brush both sides of the wedges with melted butter, then sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar mixture onto the top side.

Bake for about 9 - 10 minutes (or until just beginning to crisp).  Allow to slightly cool, then serve with pumpkin dip.

NOTE:  This will yield 20 - 24 wedges.  You may want to double or triple the cinnamon crisps recipe (and use two baking sheets) if preparing for a party or large crowd.

  1. It was pretty good as it stands, but I like it better if you double the cream cheese and put half of the cool whip. But, I LOVE cream cheese.
