My First Visit to Williams-Sonoma

I visited a Williams-Sonoma store in person for the first time last Sunday. I've browsed their website several times in the past, but had never stepped foot into an actual store.

While we were recently shopping at a mall out of state, I about died when I spotted the store. (Thank you to my hubby and kids for allowing me to drag them through the store for almost an hour.) It was  seriously way more amazing than I ever imagined. (Wow - could you be any more overly dramatic, Angela ?)
I tried to explain to my eleven-year old son, Zayne, that me visiting WS was the equivalent of him visiting a Lego store. I was a kid in a candy store, so-to-speak. I'm sure I embarrassed my children slightly when I, literally, sang a line from The Little Mermaid to them while holding a Garlic Press in one hand and a Double Mezzaluna in the other hand ... they've got "gadgets and gizmos aplenty."

And, I found the Le Creuset Dutch Oven (in orange!) that I've had my eyes on online for forever. (Now I'm just waiting to win the big lottery so that I can actually purchase several things there that I fell in love with!)

Actually, truth be told ... I did pick up a few things. Namely, some snacks. We had been shopping for hours and I was starving by the time we were in the store. I was thrilled when I spotted some fruit and nuts crisps there - I adore these type of crackers, but they're difficult to find in our small-town grocery stores.

Williams-Sonoma carries Raincoast Crisps brand. I was so excited to see that they had a large basket full of clearance boxes (they were close to the expiration date). I picked up two varieties - Salty Date and Almond  (my favorite) & Cranberry Hazelnut. Oh, my goodness - these things are incredibly addictive! They are made by the Lesley Stowe company. One thing is for certain - I will definitely be buying more once the four boxes that I purchased are wiped out!

MY REVIEW OF THE STORE: Like I said, my visit to WS was amazing. Just when I thought I couldn't be more inspired, I'd turn around only to find yet another shelf full of awesome items to ooh  and ahh over. Every kitchen tool, small appliance, gadget, dish and utensil that I'd ever dreamed of owning was right there for me to drool over.

This was the conversation between my hubby and I on the way home:
ME: If we ever strike it rich, the first thing I'd do is design and have our dream home built. The second thing I'd do is spend a couple of weeks picking out everything I'd want for my new kitchen. I think I'd buy almost everything in the Williams-Sonoma's kitchenware line.
HUBBY: I'd just be happy to not have to go to work everyday.
While we were in the store, they were holding one of their cooking classes. So, the place smelled divine. I secretly wished I was a part of it all ... they were making some type of tart. I wanted to throw on an apron and join in.

The staff were extremely lovely and helpful. I was looking for truffle oil, but they were out of stock. Without me even asking, they went searching online, found the prices and came back to me with the info for ordering it online from home.

My kids actually liked it there, too, when all was said and done. They loved the Spiralizer.

They were super impressed with the cutlery section. (Three hundred dollars for one knife, mom ? It better cut the ingredients for you.) They joked that they'd buy me a set for my birthday next month. If only!

Overall, I cannot wait to go back. Their closest store to my house seems to be the one we visited this past weekend - an hour and a half away. My hubby works in that same town (yes, he travels that  far everyday to work). I think I've found a good excuse to take a mini road trip soon to visit him at work for lunch, then hit Williams-Sonoma on my own. I could spend a whole afternoon there. Pure heaven!

  1. I cannot believe that you have never been in a store! I LOVE that place. Agreed though, on the spendy side.

    1. We live in a small town with no malls nearby, so it's a real treat when I get to visit places like WS! Can't wait to go back! :)

  3. Ohhhhh lady, I hear ya. I have a Williams Sonoma just a few minutes away from me, but I seriously limit the number of times I go in there, because it's all impulse buys, all the time. Yes, I have the spiralizer. And it's cool. I also have that exact garlic press (was given it as a gift), but if I'm being honest, I barely use it. It takes FOREVER to clean it properly, and it's just a pain in the butt to even use if you're only mincing a few cloves. Maybe if I needed like 20 cloves of garlic minced, I would get it out. But beyond that, it's just not worth having to clean it!

    1. I wondered about the garlic press ... I usually don't chop more than 2 - 3 cloves at a time and I HATE tedious cleaning of little gadgets. :) So, I'll probably stick to my trusty knife and cutting board! Lucky you to live so close to a store ... I think my credit cards would be maxed out if I did! LOL.
